Opel has announced plans to bring a road-legal version of its electric rally vehicle, the Mokka GSE Rally, into series production, aiming to extend the motorsport experience to everyday drivers.
The new model, called the Opel Mokka GSE, is based on the electric rally car prototype unveiled at the ELE Rally in the Netherlands last month. The prototype featured a 207 kW electric powertrain delivering 345 Nm of torque, a 54 kWh battery, and visual elements including a yellow-black livery, bold “OMG! GSE” graphics, and rally-specific components like a roll cage and crash protection system.
“During the development of the Opel Mokka GSE Rally, it quickly became clear to us that we did not want to reserve this incredible feeling only for motorsport professionals,” said Marc Fetzer, Opel’s Vice President of Current Product. “Opel customers should also be able to enjoy this particularly powerful, direct and uncompromising driving experience. That is why we are putting the Mokka GSE into series production.”
While the production version is expected to retain some of the rally car’s performance and design traits, Opel has not confirmed if all motorsport features—such as the roll cage—will carry over to the final road model.
According to Opel, the Mokka GSE is still in development and undergoing testing, including data collection from professional rally events to inform its final design. The vehicle remains camouflaged, and the company has yet to announce pricing, a production timeline, or launch date.
