Nio’s sub-brand Onvo has filed for approval of its second vehicle, the L90 electric SUV, as the model moves closer to its public debut at the Shanghai auto show later this month.
The Onvo L90 appeared in China’s latest regulatory filing catalog published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Wednesday. The filing, open for public comment from April 17–23, is a key step required before a vehicle can be sold in the Chinese market.

The L90 will be available in both single-motor and dual-motor variants, each configured with six seats. It is listed under two model numbers—NAL6513BSEVZ1 and NAL6513BSEVZ2—and will be manufactured at Nio’s F2 plant in Hefei, Anhui province.
Larger than the Onvo L60, the L90 measures 5,145 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Its curb weight ranges between 2,250 kg and 2,385 kg, depending on battery configuration, and it supports Nio’s battery swap system. The electric SUV is capable of reaching a top speed of 200 km/h.

The single-motor version features a 340 kW rear-mounted unit, while the dual-motor variant includes an additional 100 kW front motor, both produced by Nio’s XPT subsidiary. Battery options include lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium-ion chemistries, supplied by companies such as BYD, CATL, and CALB.
The L90 will come standard with an 85-kWh battery pack, offering a higher energy capacity than the L60, which launched in 2024 with a base 60-kWh configuration. This change aligns with the L90’s positioning as a mid-to-large-size SUV designed for larger families.
