Nissan’s Leaf, an iconic electric vehicle (EV), has been acknowledged as a significant chapter in the history of transportation, according to a recent survey conducted by the automaker to commemorate its 90th anniversary.

The survey highlights the Leaf’s position among the most impactful transport innovations over the past nine decades, securing the 19th spot since its launch in 2010 as the world’s first mass-market electric car.

Nissan’s history of pushing boundaries in transportation innovation dates back to its pioneering Tama electric vehicle in 1947 and extends to the modern Ariya EV. Notably, a third of respondents in the UK identified electric cars as the innovation holding the most promise for future sustainability.

The survey sheds light on the broader societal impact of transportation advancements, with 70 percent of respondents acknowledging positive influences on their lives. These innovations are credited with making travel easier, enhancing connectivity, and opening new horizons for travel.
