Nissan announced that cumulative global production of its e-POWER vehicles exceeded 1.5 million units as of the end of October. Currently, e-POWER vehicles are available in 68 markets worldwide.

e-POWER is a unique technology developed by Nissan, utilizing a small-capacity gasoline engine and lithium-ion battery to power an electric motor that drives the wheels. This configuration provides an electric vehicle driving experience characterized by responsive acceleration and quiet operation.

The e-POWER system was first introduced in Japan in 2016 with the Note e-POWER. Since then, its availability has expanded to include the Kicks and X-Trail sport utility vehicles, as well as the Serena minivan. In the fiscal year 2023, e-POWER vehicles accounted for 42.6% of Nissan’s total sales in Japan.

In China, the e-POWER system became available in 2021 with the Sylphy e-POWER sedan, and it has since been added to the X-Trail SUV lineup. In Europe, e-POWER variants of the X-Trail and Qashqai SUVs were launched in 2022, with sales surpassing 100,000 units as of January.

Looking ahead, Nissan plans to introduce e-POWER in the U.S. and Canada by the end of fiscal year 2026. The company aims to enhance the appeal and competitiveness of e-POWER to meet the diverse needs of customers globally.
