Chinese manufacturer Skyworth Auto will present five next-generation electric commercial vehicles at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany, including the world premiere of the Skyworth Z9, a heavy-duty battery-electric truck designed for Level 4 autonomous operation. The 6×4 electric tractor features a dual-motor powertrain producing 610 kW and a 400 kWh LFP battery.
Skyworth Auto will exhibit under the theme “Smart Ecosystem for a New Era” at the commercial vehicle trade fair, which runs from September 15 to 20.
Z9 Combines Electric Power and Level 4 Autonomy
The Skyworth Z9 is a battery-electric tractor unit with a 6×4 configuration and a dual-motor powertrain.
The system delivers 610 kW of power and 1,160 Nm of peak torque. Energy is supplied by a 400 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which Skyworth says provides range suitable for freight transportation.
For autonomous driving, the Z9 uses five LiDAR sensors, five millimetre-wave radars and 10 high-definition cameras to provide 360-degree perception.
Skyworth has not yet disclosed additional range, charging or operating specifications for the truck. Further details are expected during its official presentation in Hanover.
Five Electric Commercial Vehicles on Display
Skyworth’s IAA Transportation lineup will cover several commercial applications beyond heavy-duty freight.
The G18 refuse truck will also feature Level 4 autonomous driving and is designed for waste-management operations.
The company will additionally show the Urban Elf Robobus, an autonomous electric shuttle intended for environments including parks, campuses, airports and residential areas.
The commercial vehicle portfolio will be completed by two Hongtu models. The Hongtu V9 is an electric panel van aimed at urban logistics, while the Hongtu X is an electric chassis equipped with a range extender and designed to accommodate customized bodywork.
Skyworth Expands International Commercial Vehicle Presence
IAA Transportation 2026 will mark Skyworth Auto’s debut at the Hanover commercial vehicle exhibition, although the company has previously presented its vehicles in Europe.
China’s Skyworth Auto Prepares Entry Into India With Local Partner
Skyworth says it has delivered 150,000 vehicles across bus, light commercial vehicle, truck and special vehicle segments to 45 countries.
The company also presented its products at Busworld in Brussels last October and has recently supplied a batch of 12-metre electric buses to Romania.
The five-vehicle presentation at Hanover will give Skyworth an opportunity to showcase its expanding electric commercial vehicle portfolio, including battery-electric trucks, autonomous buses, urban logistics vehicles and specialized commercial platforms.
