Firefly, the premium compact car brand under Nio Inc, has reached cumulative deliveries of 40,000 vehicles, around nine months after the launch of its first and currently only model, highlighting rapid early momentum for the marque.
The company announced the milestone on social media platform Weibo on Tuesday without providing additional details. Based on previously disclosed figures, the update implies that Firefly delivered about 586 vehicles so far this month, after cumulative deliveries stood at 39,414 units at the end of December.

Nio formally introduced the Firefly brand at Nio Day 2024 on December 21, positioning it as a competitor to compact premium brands such as Mini and Smart. The brand’s debut model, the Firefly EV, was officially launched in China on April 19 and is offered in two variants, priced from 119,800 yuan ($16,710) and 125,800 yuan, with the battery pack included.
Delivery momentum has gathered pace in recent months. Firefly delivered a record 7,084 vehicles in December, representing a 16.36% increase from November and marking its fifth consecutive month of sequential growth. The brand reached its 10,000th delivery in late July, followed by the 20,000-unit milestone in September and 30,000 deliveries in November.

Alongside rising volumes in China, Firefly has begun expanding overseas. In November, the brand said it planned to enter 17 additional international markets after initial launches in the Netherlands, Norway and Belgium. Earlier this month, Firefly began accepting pre-orders for right-hand-drive versions of the Firefly EV in Singapore, its first market for the RHD variant. The brand’s local partner, Wearnes, is expected to open Firefly’s first showroom in the city-state by the end of January.
