Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio will roll out new models and facelifts across its three brands in 2025, as part of an aggressive product expansion plan aimed at sustaining growth, company founder and CEO William Li said on Thursday.
“From April through the end of the year, all three of our brands — Nio, Onvo, and Firefly — will be intensively releasing new products,” Li said in a live-streamed event on short-form video platform Douyin.

The facelifted versions of the ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, and EC6 will include updated interiors and minor exterior changes, Li said. The revised models will feature horizontal center screens instead of vertical ones and incorporate Nio’s in-house developed Shenji autonomous driving chip. The move aligns with broader industry trends, following similar transitions made by Tesla and other automakers.
Regulatory filings expected next week from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) could reveal images and further details of the updated models, Li added.

Despite the model refresh, Nio does not plan to lower prices on the facelifted vehicles. “Now is the best time for potential customers to buy Nio cars,” Li said, emphasizing that the changes will not bring cost reductions.
The expansion follows earlier comments by Li in November, when he described 2025 as a “big product year” for Nio, targeting a doubling of full-year sales compared to 2024. He also said the company was entering a new product cycle, starting with the ET9, its most expensive model to date, with deliveries set to begin in March.

Nio’s Onvo sub-brand will introduce two additional family SUVs in 2025, including a mid-to-large-size 6/7-seater SUV and a large five-seater SUV, Li said. The Onvo L60, launched in September 2024, marked the sub-brand’s debut, with deliveries beginning later that month.
