Nio has surpassed 70 million cumulative battery swap services, reaching the milestone on April 1, less than four months after hitting 60 million, the company announced.
Since March, Nio has been performing an average of 88,000 battery swaps per day, equating to one vehicle receiving a fully charged battery every 1.02 seconds. The service has delivered more than 3.7 billion kWh of power, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 1.85 million households, the company said.

Battery swapping remains the preferred charging option among Nio users, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the total energy replenishment. Nio estimates that its service has saved users approximately 58.2 million hours compared to public charging and reduced energy costs by RMB 18.3 billion ($2.5 billion) relative to gasoline-powered vehicles.
As of now, Nio operates 3,239 battery swap stations in China, including 976 along highways. Additionally, the company has 2,756 supercharging stations with 12,746 chargers and 1,724 destination charging stations equipped with 13,211 charging piles.

Nio’s first battery swap station was launched in Shenzhen on May 20, 2018. It took 29 months to reach 1 million swaps, with the 10 millionth milestone arriving in July 2022. The company hit the 60 million mark in December 2024.
On March 18, Nio announced a partnership with battery supplier CATL to build the world’s largest battery swap network, reinforcing its commitment to advancing EV infrastructure.
