Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Nio said on Tuesday it has produced its 800,000th mass-produced vehicle, a key milestone in its growth strategy as it gears up for the official launch of the Onvo L90 SUV later this month.
The 800,000th vehicle, an L90 SUV under its new mass-market sub-brand Onvo, was assembled at Nio’s F1 facility in Hefei, Anhui province, the company said in a statement. Deliveries of the L90 are scheduled to begin on August 1, following its official launch on July 31.

“The 800,000th vehicle marks a new starting point,” said William Li, Nio’s founder, chairman and CEO. “We will continue to invest in technological innovation and accelerate efforts to achieve the 1 million vehicle milestone.”
Nio operates two factories in Hefei—F1 and F2—with a third, the F3 plant in NeoPark, slated to begin production in September. The F1 facility, shared by both Nio and Onvo, features advanced automation and flexibility, supporting the mixed production of all-aluminum and high-strength steel-aluminum vehicle bodies.

The company highlighted several manufacturing technologies used in the L90 production line, including a 9,800-ton one-piece die-casting process for rear floor panels and a new AI-driven self-inspection system named Tiantan. According to Nio, Tiantan can automatically detect more than 1,000 vehicle functions within three minutes, significantly expediting quality checks.
Pre-sales for the L90 SUV began on July 10, with a starting price of RMB 279,900 ($39,040) for the version equipped with an 85-kWh battery pack. Under Nio’s battery rental program, known as Battery as a Service (BaaS), the starting price is reduced to RMB 193,900. The company noted that further price adjustments may follow the vehicle’s full market launch, in line with common industry practices.
