Nio has introduced a limited-edition version of its ET5 Touring, the brand’s current best-selling model, as part of a collaboration with the sci-fi film Tron: Ares, which premieres in China today.

The black-themed edition, limited to 555 units, is priced at RMB 316,000 ($44,370) including a 100-kWh battery pack — about 6% higher than the standard model’s starting price of RMB 298,000.

The special edition features a distinctive black exterior, “Moon” theme interior package, 20-inch wheels, roof rails, orange brake calipers, and exclusive decals inspired by the movie.

Under Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, the model is available from RMB 208,000 with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 1,128. Deliveries for the limited edition are scheduled to begin in late October.

Nio said customers who order the model by October 31 will receive additional benefits, including a free AC charging kit, five years of complimentary NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus) access, and a comfort package valued at RMB 9,500.

The launch follows two similar special-edition releases by Nio’s budget sub-brand Firefly — the Nomadic Maillard edition and the Night Creature edition — both of which were limited runs aimed at generating market excitement.

The ET5 Touring has become Nio’s strongest performer in recent months, helping the automaker achieve record delivery figures. In September, Nio delivered 34,749 vehicles, up 64.1% year-on-year. This included 13,728 vehicles from the Nio premium line, 15,246 from its family-oriented ONVO brand, and 5,775 from the compact Firefly brand. Firefly has now delivered over 20,000 vehicles since its launch in April, doubling its total output in just over two months.
