NIO has just introduced Europe's first battery swap station located in Norway. The battery exchange station is close to the E-18 at Kjellstad in Lier, a few kilometers north of Drammen.

NIO plans to build 20 battery swap station by the end of 2022. The battery swap station is the second generation Power Swap Station 2.0. This type of station was first introduced in April 2021, which has 14 battery slots – 13 battery packs and an empty slot to take an empty battery.

The battery swap station will support the NIO ES8 model, as well as the next electric vehicle model produced by NIO.

In China alone, NIO has built 796 power swap stations. NIO itself targets to build 4,000 power swap stations by the end of 2025, of which 1,000 power swap stations will be located overseas.
