In the midst of the incessant era of electric vehicles, various manufacturers are racing to launch new electric car variants.
In addition to passenger electric cars, electric offroad type vehicles that look dashing will soon be launched and sold on the market. The car comes from a Scottish manufacturer, Munro Vehicles.
This electric SUV is named Munro MK1, this car is designed and distributed as a 4×4 electric utility vehicle and will be the first paved in the United States. The Munro is a body-on-frame, five-door, five-passenger all-purpose electric SUV.
Aluminum body panels are laser cut, shaped, and folded in place. It has a wheelbase of 130 inches. Styling is handled by Ross Compton, Munro’s Head of Design who previously led projects at Bollinger Motors and Atlis Motors Vehicles, in case you couldn’t tell.
Meanwhile, in the undercarriage sector, the Munro MK1 has a 4Ă4 drive featuring a high-strength steel chassis built with 5 mm thick steel.
Munro is currently headquartered in East Kilbride, Scotland, where initial units will be built by hand, ideally around 50 vehicles by 2023. The company has plans to expand a new factory in central Scotland in 2024.
Munro says production at the new location will increase from 250 units per year to 2,500 in 2027. At least that’s the goal. Munro had partnered with a company called Wyre to distribute certain variants in the United States.
Munro chose a single axial flux electric motor for the MK1 (via radial flux) to drive all wheels via mechanical drive. The electric motor is mounted centrally between the two front passenger seats.
Regarding performance, the Munro MK1 has two choices of electric motors: 220kW (295 hp/443 lb-ft of torque) and 280kW (375 hp/516 lb-ft of torque). Likewise, there are two battery pack options: 61 kWh and 82 kWh, the larger one is capable of up to 190 miles (or 16 hours of off-road use on a single battery charge), according to Munro.
Underneath, the Munro has coilover suspension, permanent mechanical four-wheel drive and a two-speed center transfer case with locking differential. You can also get front and rear anti-roll bars, underbody guards, front bull bars, winch bumpers, and front and rear electronic differential locks.
This Munro MK1 has a power of 280kW and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
