Motor Fuel Group (MFG), a UK-based operator of petrol forecourts, has completed the installation of a new network of electric vehicle fast chargers at Morrisons supermarket car parks, the company said on Wednesday. The rollout includes more than 580 rapid “EV Power” charging bays across 300 Morrisons locations nationwide.

According to MFG, the completion makes Morrisons the UK food retailer with the largest number of fast-charging bays. The rollout was completed within five months, with MFG stating that its rapid chargers can “typically bring an EV back up to full charge in 45 minutes,” roughly the time it takes to complete a weekly grocery shop. While MFG did not disclose charger specifications, data from Zapmap indicates that MFG’s EV Power network typically charges £0.79 per kWh, with payments accepted via the MFG app, contactless methods, or partner platforms.

The Morrisons rollout runs alongside MFG’s broader EV Power Ultra Rapid Charging Hubs initiative, which features chargers rated between 300 and 400 kW. “MFG EV Power will have 1,900 bays in operation by Q4 2025, making it the largest rapid and ultra-rapid charging network in the UK,” the company said. “MFG will have over 100 Ultra Rapid hubs on the Morrisons network alone by 2030, in addition to a further 400 hubs across the 1,218 service stations.”

“Completing this rollout of rapid charging bays across the Morrisons network in just five months is a testament to our team’s expertise and commitment,” said William Bannister, CEO of MFG. “We are delivering on our promise to provide the infrastructure communities need to embrace electric vehicles, while continuing to invest in a best-in-class experience for all our customers.”

Earlier this year, MFG said it would expand its ultra-rapid charging network in London by 30 percent, adding new hubs and upgrading existing ones. “By expanding existing sites and bringing new hubs online, we are ensuring EV drivers have access to the ultra-rapid facilities they need, helping to make EV ownership more convenient and accessible,” said Martin Symes, Director of EV at MFG.
