In a noteworthy debut at Climate Week NYC, MINI has showcased its latest offering, the Countryman Electric, set to make its way to the United States in the fall of 2024. With promises of enhanced utility, a “fun to drive” experience, and that unmistakable MINI design, the Countryman Electric has generated substantial buzz.

While detailed U.S. specifications are yet to be disclosed, the international version of the Countryman Electric will be available with two distinct electric powertrains. The entry-level Countryman E boasts a single motor delivering 201 horsepower (150 kW / 204 PS) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. These specifications enable the model to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in a brisk 8.6 seconds, reach a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h), and offer an impressive WLTP cycle range of up to 287 miles (462 km).

The Countryman SE ALL4, however, adds an intriguing twist with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, generating a robust 308 horsepower (230 kW / 313 PS) and 364 lb-ft (494 Nm) of torque. This extra power translates into a quicker 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) sprint of just 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). However, it comes at a cost, as the range slightly diminishes to 269 miles (433 km).

MINI has also made provisions for speedy recharging, boasting a 130 kW DC fast charging capability, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

In terms of design, the Countryman Electric adopts a boxier aesthetic, characterized by an enclosed grille flanked by distinctive headlights. The vehicle also features a stepped roof, a robust shoulder line, and wheels that can go up to 20 inches in size. Despite its boxier shape, MINI engineers have managed to lower the coefficient of drag from 0.31 to an impressive 0.26.

Inside, the Countryman Electric embraces a minimalist approach, featuring a dominant 9.4-inch circular display that serves multiple functions, combining the infotainment system with a new personal assistant and a speedometer, among other features. As anticipation builds closer to its launch, more comprehensive details about the MINI Countryman Electric are eagerly awaited by automotive enthusiasts.
