Motor Fuel Group has introduced Plug & Charge capability across 95% of its MFG EV Power charging network in the UK through a partnership with Octopus Electroverse.
The companies said the system enables drivers of compatible electric vehicles to begin charging automatically by simply connecting their vehicle to a charger, with authentication and payment processed through the customer’s Electroverse account.
According to MFG, the initiative is intended to simplify the charging process and reduce operational friction for EV drivers.
The company noted that Plug & Charge functionality is only available for vehicles meeting specific technical and certification standards required for compatibility with the system.
“By enabling Plug & Charge across almost our entire network, we’re removing frustrating inefficiencies and delivering the seamless, reliable charging experience our customers deserve,” said Martin Symes, EV director at MFG.
“This is another major step in our ongoing investment to support the UK’s shift to electric vehicles, making MFG the first major UK network to deliver this game-changing convenience at scale,” Symes added.
The rollout follows MFG’s recent integration of its charging network with Hubject Plug&Charge infrastructure earlier this month.
That agreement connected around 2,000 rapid and ultra-rapid charging points across the MFG EV Power network to Hubject’s authentication platform.
MFG EV Power currently operates more than 500 charging sites throughout the UK, offering chargers with power outputs ranging from 50 kW to 400 kW.
The company has also announced plans to invest more than £400 million in EV charging infrastructure, targeting installation of over 3,000 ultra-rapid charging points by 2030.
In addition to its EV charging operations, MFG manages more than 1,200 fuel forecourt locations across the United Kingdom.
