Mercedes-Benz Trucks has unveiled the eArocs 400, a battery-electric version of its construction-focused Arocs truck, marking its latest step toward electrification in the commercial vehicle sector. The model is expected to enter production in 2026, though initial output will be limited to 150 units annually for select European markets.
The eArocs 400, which will be available in 32- and 41-tonne 8Ć4 axle configurations, is aimed at construction transport applications such as concrete mixing and tipping. The electric truck will be assembled alongside its diesel counterpart at the Wƶrth plant in Germany, with electrification work carried out by specialist vehicle converter Paul Group. The electric variant features two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by CATL, offering a gross capacity of 414 kWh and a usable capacity of 95%.

āFollowing the distribution and long-haul transport, we are continuing to expand our product range of battery-electric trucks,ā said Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. āNow, it is crucial that policymakers promote the development of the charging infrastructure and create the necessary framework conditions for the economic operation of these vehicles.ā
The eArocs 400 is equipped with a central electric motor delivering 380 kW of continuous power and 450 kW of peak output, paired with a three-speed gearbox and planetary axles to retain off-road capability. Mercedes-Benz Trucks reports the electric drivetrain is based on an 800V architecture and achieves at least 50% greater energy efficiency compared to its diesel equivalent. Depending on configuration, range estimates vary between 200 and 240 kilometres.

Charging is supported via CCS plugs on both sides of the vehicle, with a maximum charging power of 400 kW. Under optimal conditions, the batteries can be recharged from 20 to 80% in approximately 45 minutes. Interior features include a fully digital cockpit with a 12-inch touchscreen and support for voice control, along with a customizable āFavouritesā menu tailored for construction use.
Body configurations will be supplied by partners including Meiller and Liebherr, with the latter providing a 9-cubic-metre mixer body powered by the truckās battery through an electric power take-off. An additional version with a fully electric mixing drum, built by Zoomlion under the ENERGYA brand, will also be exhibited at Bauma.
