Mercedes-Benz has opened orders in Germany for its new all-electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class around two weeks after unveiling the model, with pricing for the C 400 4MATIC starting at 67,711 euros including VAT.

The launch price places the electric C-Class below the similarly powered Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4MATIC, which starts at 71,281 euros in Germany.

Mercedes said the electric C-Class uses the company’s new MB.EA-M platform with an 800-volt electrical architecture. The sedan shares its drivetrain technology with the electric GLC, including a 94-kWh battery pack, charging capability of up to 330 kW and a total system output of 360 kW.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the vehicle can achieve a driving range of up to 762 kilometres under the WLTP testing cycle. The rear axle uses an electric motor paired with a two-speed transmission that is also featured in the Mercedes-Benz CLA.

The automaker also confirmed that an additional rear-wheel-drive variant is under development. While the company has not officially disclosed the model name, the version is expected to combine the 94-kWh battery with a 200-kW motor and deliver a range of approximately 800 kilometres.

Mercedes-Benz said more battery variants will follow later, potentially including a lower-cost entry-level model. Industry speculation has also pointed to a future AMG performance version, although the company has not officially confirmed such a model.

Mercedes described the new EV as “the sportiest C-Class ever.” Buyers can equip the vehicle with optional air suspension and rear-axle steering through the Agility & Comfort Package, priced at 2,944.10 euros.

The air suspension system is designed to improve the balance between ride comfort and driving dynamics, while rear-axle steering is intended to enhance stability at higher speeds and manoeuvrability in urban driving and parking situations.

Despite measuring 4.90 metres in length, Mercedes said the rear steering system helps the vehicle maintain handling characteristics similar to smaller compact models.

The company’s pricing structure also positions the electric C-Class competitively against some plug-in hybrid variants in the current lineup. The Mercedes-Benz C400e 4MATIC starts at more than 73,000 euros in Germany, while the C300e and C300de plug-in hybrids are also priced above the electric C 400 4MATIC.

However, optional equipment can substantially increase the final purchase price. Features such as AMG styling packages, augmented-reality head-up display technology, Burmester audio systems, advanced driver assistance packages and towing equipment can push the configured price above 100,000 euros.

Mercedes-Benz also said customers requiring compatibility with 400-volt DC fast chargers must purchase an optional DC-DC converter priced at 654.50 euros. The electric C-Class supports 11-kW AC charging as standard, while a 22-kW onboard AC charger is available as an optional upgrade.
