Mazdahas announced a significant agreement with Tesla, Inc. to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for charging ports on its battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
Starting in 2027, Mazda’s BEVs launched in Japan will feature NACS, providing customers with greater convenience through access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network.
This move aims to broaden the range of charging options available to Mazda BEV customers, allowing them to charge their vehicles at Tesla Superchargers across Japan.
Pleased that Mazda has also chosen NACS in Japan! Reliable, future-proof, and easy-to-use charging is essential for accelerating vehicle adoption in Japan. https://t.co/D7T1wrWCd7

In addition to NACS compatibility, Mazda BEVs will also support other charging standards through the use of adapters, ensuring flexibility for customers.
The agreement follows Mazda’s earlier commitment in January 2024, when it announced a similar partnership with Tesla for its BEVs in North America. From 2025 onward, Mazda BEVs in North America will also feature NACS charging ports, enhancing charging convenience and access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, which spans across the region.
By adopting NACS, Mazda is positioning itself to provide an enhanced customer experience with wider charging infrastructure access, aiming to support the growing demand for electric vehicles.
