MAN Truck & Bus will debut its updated Lion’s City 10 E electric bus at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Hamburg, showcasing a new battery generation manufactured in-house at its Nuremberg plant. The 2025 model-year eBus will be presented from June 16–18 and features improved range, energy density, and passenger capacity.
The latest version of the 10.5-metre midibus will be equipped with four new NMC-based battery packs, totaling 356 kWh of installed capacity. The new lithium-ion battery technology, originally developed for MAN’s eTruck, allows for extended range and reduced weight while offering more interior space. “With up to 96 per cent of materials recoverable, sustainability is a key part of the product concept,” MAN stated.
The same 89 kWh battery modules powering the eTruck are now being standardized across all of MAN’s electric buses and trucks. These modules support charging via CCS at rates up to 375 kW DC and are designed for a service life of up to 14 years or one million kilometres. Series production began in April in Nuremberg.
Initially launched in 2023, the Lion’s City 10 E was developed as a compact alternative to MAN’s 12-metre solo bus. With seating for 27 and standing room for 54, the 10.5-metre vehicle now offers similar capacity with greater maneuverability for dense urban environments.
In addition to the product launch, MAN is also highlighting its full-service eMobility consulting platform, MAN Transport Solutions, at the summit. The service offers public transport operators support in areas including fleet electrification, infrastructure planning, and digital fleet management tools.
