MAN Truck & Bus has expanded its electric truck lineup with new 4×2 and 6×2 chassis variants, offering customers a wider range of configurable options. This expansion increases the number of configurable eTruck variants from three to “over one million”, according to the Munich-based manufacturer.

The MAN eTruck, available to order since October 2023, is offered in two basic variants: the eTGX for long-distance transport and the eTGS for distribution. Both models are based on the same modular system, with the eTGX featuring a wider cab similar to the TGX diesel model. The new chassis versions of the eTGX and eTGS allow for high customization with various wheelbases, cab versions, engine performance classes, battery combinations, charging connection positions, and other features.

The core performance data of the electric truck includes an electric motor with 254 kW, 330 kW, or 400 kW and corresponding maximum torque of 800, 1,150, or 1,250 Newton meters, along with up to six battery packs providing up to 480 kWh of usable battery capacity for daily ranges of up to 800 kilometres. The manufacturer also offers fast charging options, including DC charging via CCS with up to 375 kW and the megawatt charging standard (MCS) for fast intermediate charging during breaks.

MAN highlights that the new chassis are ideal for various application requirements in municipal and utility management, offering flexibility in body components, mechanical and electric drives, wheelbases, cab variants, axles, suspension, driving programs, and other industry-specific equipment.

MAN will showcase an eTGS with a roll-off tipper body at IFAT in May, highlighting the company’s commitment to environmental technology vehicles. The first MAN eTruck models sold out just three months after the sales launch, with the exception of a few vehicles, indicating strong demand for electric trucks. Large-scale production is scheduled to begin at the Munich plant from 2025, with small series production starting this year.
