Madrid regional authorities have partnered with Iberdrola España to launch the city’s largest fast-charging hub for electric vehicles, featuring 47 charging points and strategically located to serve the greater metropolitan area including Getafe, Fuenlabrada, Alcorcón, and Leganés.
The 1,260-square-meter facility includes 15 ultra-fast chargers — seven delivering up to 350 kW and eight rated at 240 kW — capable of charging EVs to 80% capacity in under 15 minutes or providing up to 200 km of range in five minutes. An additional 10 fast chargers at 60 kW and 22 semi-fast 22 kW chargers complete the station’s offering. All chargers are powered by renewable energy from Iberdrola’s wider public charging network of over 9,500 points across Spain.
Located between four densely populated municipalities — collectively home to roughly 750,000 people — the hub is situated near major highways and adjacent to the Parque Polvoranca commuter train station, enhancing accessibility for both residents and travelers.
“This electric car park adds to the one already in Pozuelo de Alarcón and the one recently announced on Paseo de la Castellana, consolidating Madrid’s leadership in sustainable mobility,” said Miguel Ángel García Martín, Regional Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration.
Antonio Armengot, Iberdrola Clientes’ representative for Madrid, added: “Electric mobility requires public-private partnerships to advance residents’ wellbeing and contribute to improving air quality in cities.”
The project is part of the EU-funded Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan under Spain’s MOVES Singular Projects II Programme, reinforcing the region’s transition to low-emission transport infrastructure.
