The Lynk & Co 08 has set a new Guinness World Records title after completing 293 kilometres of driving in fully electric mode, the longest distance ever recorded by a plug-in hybrid SUV, the company said.
The record was certified following a controlled real-world test conducted in January 2026 at the Centro Dinámico Pegaso racetrack in Toluca, Mexico. The attempt involved more than six hours of continuous driving at average speeds of 50–60 km/h, designed to reflect realistic operating conditions rather than laboratory simulations.

Verification of the record was overseen by Guinness World Records and involved telemetry specialists analysing mileage data, a certified driver operating the vehicle, civil engineers measuring track parameters and mechanical engineers inspecting the vehicle before and after the test.
The achievement was enabled by the Lynk & Co 08’s 39.6 kWh high-energy battery, which carries IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. Under WLTP testing, the battery provides an electric-only range of up to 200 km. The vehicle also features intelligent thermal management, a drag coefficient below 0.30 and a modular platform optimised for low energy consumption, the company said.
The plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre combustion engine with a high-performance electric motor, delivering a total system output of 346 horsepower. Drivers can choose between Pure, Hybrid and Power modes, with the EMP control system automatically managing energy use based on driving conditions.
According to Lynk & Co, the record demonstrates the potential for extended electric-only driving in plug-in hybrid vehicles, allowing many users to complete daily commuting without engaging the combustion engine.
The test result exceeds the model’s WLTP-rated electric range and highlights growing competition among manufacturers to extend real-world electric capability in hybrid vehicles as part of broader electrification strategies.
