Li Auto has unveiled its inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Li Mega MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), at a grand launch event in Beijing, the company’s headquarters.

Currently, the Li Mega is exclusively offered in the Max trim, starting at RMB 559,800 ($77,770), marking it as Li Auto’s most expensive model to date.

The Li Mega is a seven-seat MPV, boasting dimensions of 5,350 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,850 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,300 mm.

Its exterior design draws inspiration from Chinese high-speed rail locomotives, aiding in reducing wind resistance to Cd 0.215, comparable to that of a coupe.

Thanks to its aerodynamic design, the Li Mega delivers impressive range performance, offering a CLTC range of 710 kilometers, powered by a 102.7-kWh battery pack.

The battery pack, provided by CATL, utilizes the Qilin Battery, introduced in June 2022. Li Auto’s collaboration with CATL enables the vehicle to support 5C ultra-fast charging. Li Auto claims that the Li Mega can achieve a range of 500 kilometers with just a 12-minute charge.

To alleviate range anxiety among potential buyers, Li Auto is aggressively expanding its supercharging station network, aiming to establish 2,000 stations in China by the end of this year.

Li Xiang, founder, chairman, and CEO of Li Auto, announced at the launch event that the company will invest at least RMB 6 billion to construct over 5,000 directly-operated supercharging stations supporting 5C charging over the next few years.

In urban areas, Li Auto is collaborating with partners to build supercharging stations with charging power exceeding 300 kW, enabling the Li Mega to achieve a 500-kilometer range with a 15-minute charge.

The Li Mega is equipped with dual electric motors producing a combined power output of 400 kW and a total torque of 542 Nm, allowing the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.5 seconds.

Featuring the AD Max intelligent driving system, powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips providing 508 Tops of computing power, and a smart cockpit driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the Li Mega sets a new standard in the segment.

Deliveries of the Li Mega will commence on March 11, with customers who place orders before this date eligible for a free 20-kW DC charging pile or 6,000 kWh of complimentary charging.
