Leapmotor has achieved a key milestone with the delivery of its 100,000th C16 SUV, about 16 months after the model’s market debut.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced the achievement on Weibo today, noting that the C16 has held the title of China’s best-selling large SUV priced under RMB 200,000 ($28,100) for 14 consecutive months.

The C16 was launched on June 28, 2024, offering six-seat configurations in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.

Leapmotor expanded the lineup in June 2025 with the 2026 C16, introducing new five-seat variants to appeal to a broader customer base. The updated model also came with a lower starting price of RMB 151,800 ($21,380), compared with the previous RMB 155,800.

Measuring 4,915 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,770 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, the C16 combines spacious design with solid performance. Its EREV variants deliver up to 280 kilometers of electric-only range, while the BEV versions reach up to 630 kilometers on a single charge. The model’s versatility and affordability have made it one of the most competitive large NEVs in China’s fast-growing family SUV market.

Backed by Stellantis NV, Leapmotor continues to post record-breaking results. The company delivered 66,657 vehicles in September, marking its fifth straight month of record-high deliveries — up 97.4 percent from a year earlier and 16.8 percent higher than in August.
