Stellantis-backed Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor plans to introduce the first model of its A-series lineup in the first quarter of 2026, according to a report by local media outlet Leiphone. The standard version of the model has reportedly been delivered to suppliers for testing, marking the next step in Leapmotor’s product expansion strategy.

The upcoming A-series model will be developed simultaneously for both Chinese and European markets and will feature a smaller body size compared to the company’s B-series lineup, aligning with European consumer preferences. The launch follows Leapmotor’s recent debut of the D19 large SUV in China, the first model in its D-series lineup, with deliveries expected to begin in the first half of 2026.

Leapmotor’s founder and CEO, Zhu Jiangming, stated that the company will launch two A-series models in 2026, alongside the completion of its automotive plant in Zaragoza, Spain.

The facility, located within Stellantis’ existing assembly site, will serve as Leapmotor’s European manufacturing hub. Following conversion, the plant will begin producing Leapmotor’s B-series models — starting with the B10 — in the third quarter of 2026.

The company is entering what it describes as a “product super cycle” in 2026, with 2–3 D-series models joining its existing B- and C-series lineups. Stellantis invested €1.5 billion ($1.75 billion) in Leapmotor last year to acquire a 20% stake, strengthening the partnership between the two automakers.

Leapmotor’s current product range includes models such as the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, and C16, covering price segments from RMB 60,000 ($8,420) to RMB 300,000.
