Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor has filed a new battery-electric sedan, the B01, for regulatory approval as part of its effort to expand its B-series lineup, according to a recent filing by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The B01 appears in MIITās latest draft catalog for new vehicles, which is open for public comment through April 23. Inclusion in the catalog is the final major regulatory step before a vehicle can be sold in China.

The B01 will be Leapmotorās second model in the B-series, following the B10 sedan that launched earlier this month. The new model will be showcased at the upcoming Shanghai auto show beginning April 23, the company said on its official Weibo account.
The all-electric B01 is built at Leapmotorās manufacturing facilities in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, and will be offered in three battery electric versions. The sedan measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mmāmaking it smaller than Leapmotorās C01 sedan from its C-series.

Curb weight ranges from 1,625 kg to 1,711 kg, and the B01 supports a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Powertrain options include a single electric motor with two configurations offering peak power outputs of 132 kW and 160 kW. The vehicle uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Gotion High-tech, CALB, and Zenergy.
Leapmotor has also included the option for roof-mounted LiDAR sensors, indicating potential support for advanced driver assistance features.

The B-series is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the C-series, which includes the C01 sedan and the C10, C11, and C16 SUVs. Leapmotor executives said in March they are targeting monthly sales of over 40,000 units for the B-series.
