The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has rolled out the world’s first Tesla Cybertruck public safety fleet, marking a new milestone in the integration of electric vehicles into law enforcement.
The department received ten UP.FIT Patrol Cybertrucks, designed and engineered by Unplugged Performance’s UP.FIT division, in a move aimed at advancing both operational efficiency and sustainability. Each vehicle is equipped with full police-grade systems, including lights, sirens, and PA systems, as well as pursuit-ready enhancements such as prisoner partitions, push bars, and reinforced suspension and braking systems.

“The police force of the future is here today, and it’s built by UP.FIT in partnership with LVMPD,” said Ben Schaffer, CEO of UP.FIT. “This collaboration reflects a shared dedication to delivering solutions that significantly enhance officer safety, operational superiority, and community well-being.”
The vehicles were officially handed over during a ceremony themed “Technology That Saves Lives”, with LVMPD describing the UP.FIT Patrol Cybertruck as one of the most advanced patrol vehicles currently in service. The all-electric fleet also supports the department’s environmental and cost-saving goals, reducing both emissions and long-term operational expenses.

According to UP.FIT, the initiative was fully funded through private donations, and each vehicle is expected to save the department around $47,540 over five years compared to a traditional gasoline-powered pickup. Annual energy savings per vehicle are projected between $8,800 and $12,000, based on local electricity rates.
While the LVMPD is the first police force to deploy an entire fleet of Cybertrucks, it is not the first to use one. The Irvine Police Department (IPD) in southern California introduced a single Cybertruck patrol unit in October last year, also converted by UP.FIT, as part of its community engagement and innovation efforts.
