Kia America presented two new electric vehicle (EV) concepts at the 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Los Angeles, featuring off-road-ready designs aimed at outdoor use.

Known as the EV9 ADVNTR and PV5 WKNDR, the concepts were created by the Kia Design Center America (KDCA) team in Irvine, California, and showcase ideas that blend functionality with sustainability.

The EV9 ADVNTR concept, based on Kia’s three-row SUV, includes custom front and rear facias, reinforced rocker panels, and larger tires intended for off-road environments.

The vehicle has a modified suspension that raises it by 3 inches over the standard model, along with a roof rack for added cargo and gear storage, making it adaptable for outdoor trips.

The PV5 WKNDR concept, adapted from Kia’s Purpose Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, features a modular interior designed for versatility. A unique “Gear Head” storage feature provides off-board storage space, maximizing interior capacity, and can convert into a mobile pantry.

The PV5 WKNDR is fitted with solar panels and hydro turbine wheels to recharge its battery while stationary and to power auxiliary components like an onboard compressor.

Kia has not released performance details for either concept, and it remains unclear whether these models will go into production. However, the designs suggest Kia’s exploration into the off-road EV space and potentially preview future EV developments.
