DHL Korea has joined forces with Kia to enhance its logistics operations using Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) solutions. The partnership will see Kia deliver medium- and large-sized PBVs to DHL, starting with the medium-sized PV5 in 2026 and the larger PV7 in 2027, marking a step forward in electrifying DHLâs delivery fleet.
Under the agreement, Kia will customize PBV models to meet the specific needs of DHLâs logistics operations. The collaboration aligns with Kiaâs broader strategy to penetrate the light commercial vehicle market by providing modular, electric, and connected vehicles designed for diverse applications. Beyond vehicles, Kia plans to support DHL with additional solutions, such as EV charging infrastructure and warranty services, to facilitate the transition to a fully electric fleet in the long term.
Kia introduced its PBV concept earlier this year as part of its vision to redefine electric commercial vehicles. These purpose-built models integrate advanced technologies such as connectivity, robotics, and autonomous driving. The PBV platform also extends to ride-hailing and taxi services, offering tailored vehicle designs alongside software and service innovations.
Kia showcased its PBV lineup at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Europe, with plans to expand to markets such as Japan. The PV7 model, scheduled for launch in Japan by 2026, highlights the companyâs ambition to bring its customizable EV solutions to a global audience. Specific pricing details for the PV5 and PV7 are expected to be announced in early 2025, according to Sjoerd Knipping, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Kia Europe.
