Kia Reports 201,000 BEV Sales in 2024, Sees 10% Growth and Plans Expansion in 2025

Kia’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales saw a significant increase in 2024, with the company selling 201,000 BEVs, representing a 10.2% year-on-year growth.

This contributed to a total of 638,000 eco-friendly vehicles sold globally, including 367,000 hybrids and 71,000 plug-in hybrids. BEVs accounted for approximately 31.5% of Kia’s total eco-friendly car sales in 2024.

The fourth quarter was particularly strong for Kia, as the company sold nearly 770,000 vehicles globally, a 5% increase from the previous year. The Q4 sales were driven by eco-friendly cars, with 164,000 electric and hybrid vehicles sold, a rise of 14.5% compared to Q4 2023. Hybrid vehicle sales surged by 31.7%, totaling around 100,000 units during the quarter.

Looking ahead to 2025, Kia is confident of continued growth, projecting a 4% increase in overall vehicle sales to 3.216 million units, up from 3.089 million in 2024.This growth is expected to be driven by the rollout of new models, including the low-cost EV3 SUV and the upcoming EV4 mass-market sedan. Kia also plans to expand its commercial electric vehicle offerings with the launch of the PV5 electric van in 2025.

Kia’s strategy for 2025 includes launching several new models in key markets, particularly in Europe and North America. The company expects these new models to strengthen its position in the competitive EV market, further boosting BEV sales and market share.
