Tso Chinese Takeout & Delivery, autonomous vehicle operator Autolane and delivery platform Nash have launched a supervised autonomous food delivery service in Austin, Texas, using a fleet of Tesla Model Y vehicles.
The service began operating on July 7, 2026, from Tso Chinese’s Cherrywood location and is designed to combine autonomous vehicle technology with human oversight for last-mile deliveries.
Customers Collect Orders at the Vehicle
Eligible orders are matched with an Autolane vehicle through Nash’s delivery platform.
Customers receive a text message inviting them to participate in the autonomous delivery service and can track the vehicle’s progress in real time.
Once the vehicle arrives, customers use a secure tap-to-open link to unlock the rear cargo compartment and collect their order at the curbside.
The companies said no separate application, customer account or tipping is required.
Responsibilities Shared Across Three Companies
Under the partnership, Autolane operates and supervises the autonomous vehicle fleet while managing vehicle loading, curbside operations and arrival coordination.
Nash provides the delivery management platform, automatically determining whether an order should be fulfilled by an autonomous vehicle or a conventional human courier based on operational requirements.
According to the companies, restaurants do not require separate software integrations to use the mixed delivery network.
Expansion Planned
The autonomous delivery service is initially available from Tso Chinese’s Cherrywood restaurant.
The partners plan to expand the service to the company’s four additional Greater Austin locations and add more restaurant and retail brands later in 2026.
The companies said autonomous vehicles will operate alongside traditional delivery drivers as part of a combined delivery network rather than replacing human couriers entirely.
