Kempower is supplying charging equipment for Denver Public Schools’ expanding electric school bus fleet, with a new charging installation now operational at the district’s Hilltop Bus Terminal in Colorado.

The project was led by industrial automation and electrical solutions provider Winn-Marion, with Kempower providing the charging hardware and technology. The installation is intended to support the district’s daily electric bus operations as its fleet expands.

Charging System Supports 28 Electric Buses

Denver Public Schools recently added 25 Blue Bird Vision electric school buses, bringing its total electric fleet to 28 vehicles. The district said this makes it the largest electric school bus fleet in Colorado.

The new charging infrastructure was completed ahead of the district’s new school year, which is scheduled to begin on August 24.

Kempower North America President Monil Malhotra said charging infrastructure needs to accommodate the operating schedules of school transportation fleets.

The Hilltop terminal uses a Kempower distributed charging system with 650 kW of total available power. The installation includes 13 dual-port Kempower Satellite dispensers, providing 26 charging connections.
