JBM Electric Vehicles (JBM EV), the electric mobility subsidiary of JBM Auto, has secured an order to supply 500 electric buses to Indian commercial vehicle leasing platform Drivn under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The buses will be delivered in phases over the next 12 months, with the initial batches comprising luxury intercity electric coaches.
Deliveries to begin with luxury coaches
JBM EV has not disclosed which bus models are included in the agreement, although the company’s Galaxy e12 is expected to be among the vehicles supplied.
The 12-metre Galaxy e12 is designed for long-distance passenger transport and is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor capable of delivering up to 250kW in the current version. The manufacturer says the coach can support daily operations of up to 1,000 kilometres, although battery capacity and cell chemistry have not been disclosed.
The model is available in Seater, Sleeper and Hybrid configurations, accommodating up to 49 seated passengers or a combination of sleeper berths and seats. Standard features include air suspension, kneeling functionality, automatic in-swing doors, USB charging ports, reading lamps and provisions for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Last week, JBM EV introduced an updated version of the Galaxy e12 featuring revised styling and a 235kW electric motor. The latest Hybrid variant increases passenger capacity by combining 20 sleeper berths with 24 passenger seats.
Growing demand for electric buses
JBM EV Chairman Nishant Arya said the agreement reflects accelerating adoption of electric buses across India.
“India witnessed a growth of 40% in e-bus registrations in H1 CY2026 with 2,944 bus registrations across various states under the PM E-Bus Sewa and PM E-Drive schemes. This partnership with Drivn comes in at an opportune time aptly complimenting the growing momentum in India’s e-bus deployment.”
JBM Auto entered the electric bus market in 2018 and has since deployed more than 3,500 electric buses.
According to the company, its fleet has collectively travelled more than 450 million kilometres while transporting approximately 1.5 billion passengers.
JBM EV expects cumulative deliveries to reach 5,000 electric buses within the next 12 months as it continues expanding its presence in India’s rapidly growing zero-emission public transport sector.
