Iveco Bus has secured two contracts to supply battery-electric buses for the public transport network of Limoges Métropole in France, including articulated Bus Rapid Transit vehicles and standard electric buses.
The company said deliveries will begin in 2028 and continue over a four-year period.
Under the agreements, Iveco Bus will provide between 20 and 45 articulated GX 437 Elec Linium buses through its French subsidiary Heuliez.
The associated charging infrastructure for the articulated bus fleet will be supplied, installed and maintained by Dalkia Electrotechnics.
In a separate order, Iveco Bus also confirmed the supply of 13 GX 337 Elec standard battery-electric buses, with an option allowing the order volume to increase to as many as 40 vehicles.
The first contract was awarded to a consortium led by Iveco Bus together with Dalkia Electrotechnics and covers electric articulated buses for Limoges’ Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
The agreement also includes infrastructure design, commissioning, maintenance and transport system supervision services linked to the charging network along the BRT route.
The second contract focuses exclusively on the delivery of 12-metre solo electric buses.
“This project demonstrates our ability, together with Dalkia Electrotechnics, to deliver an integrated solution covering vehicles and the associated charging infrastructure, as well as commissioning, maintenance and system supervision,” said Giorgio Zino, Head of Commercial Operations Europe at Iveco Bus.
“Through this approach, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting local authorities and operators in deploying high-performance, reliable zero-emission public transport solutions,” Zino added.
According to Iveco Bus, the GX 437 Elec Linium articulated vehicles are configured for high-capacity BRT operations and equipped with overhead pantographs for opportunity charging during operation, along with two charging connections for depot charging.
The articulated buses can carry more than 150 passengers, including 34 seated passengers and two wheelchair spaces.
The vehicles also feature air conditioning, passenger information displays, USB charging ports and camera-based mirror systems replacing conventional side mirrors.
The smaller GX 337 Elec standard buses are equipped with three passenger doors, 23 seats and two spaces for passengers with reduced mobility.
Iveco Bus said the standard buses use seven battery packs and will be charged via cable-based charging systems at depots.
The charging infrastructure for the solo bus fleet will be procured separately by Limoges Métropole outside the vehicle supply contract.
