Iveco Bus has supplied 110 CROSSWAY LOW ENTRY ELEC buses to operators serving Flemish transport company De Lijn, marking a step in the region’s plan to shift towards emission-free public transport.

The vehicles are designed for regional and intercity routes and are equipped with 485-kWh batteries, enabling ranges of up to 400 km depending on operating conditions. They can be charged via CCS2 plugs and carry up to 45 seated and more than 70 standing passengers. Accessibility features include a low central entry, wide doors, and wheelchair spaces, while air conditioning and USB charging ports are also fitted.

The deployment is part of Flanders’ broader electrification strategy, carried out in cooperation with private operators responsible for daily services. Authorities aim to expand the share of zero-emission vehicles in the fleet as part of longer-term climate and mobility goals.

In July, India’s Tata Motors agreed to acquire Iveco Group in a €3.8 billion ($4.36 billion) all-cash deal. The transaction includes a tender offer for Iveco shares at €14.1 per share, conditional on the divestment of the company’s defence unit. Iveco’s largest shareholder, Exor, the investment holding of Italy’s Agnelli family, has committed to tender its 27% controlling stake.
