Spanish bus manufacturer Irizar is moving forward with plans to establish a new UK headquarters in North Nottinghamshire, set to open in late 2025, following delays due to Brexit and the pandemic.
The decision, announced at the Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham, reflects Irizarâs confidence in the expanding UK electric bus market, now the largest in Europe.
The planned headquarters will cover 16,000 square meters, featuring offices, a showroom, bus handover facilities, and extensive parking. Originally acquired in 2018, the siteâs development was paused due to economic uncertainties but has resumed after two consecutive years of strong sales growth in 2023 and 2024.
Andrew Blundell, Managing Director of Irizar UK, highlighted the projectâs significance, saying, âWe have reached a key transitional phase in the evolution of the business, and investing in our own premises will give us the capacity to further enhance our market position in the UK.â
At the Expo, Irizar showcased three of its latest vehicles, including its electric bus model, the Irizar ie tram, underscoring the companyâs focus on advancing its position in the electric vehicle sector.
