IM Motors, the electric vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corp, has shipped its first batch of LS6 electric SUVs to Thailand, marking its latest step in global expansion efforts, the company announced on Weibo on Monday.
The LS6, which will be rebranded as the IM6 in Thailand, is set to make its official market debut at the Thailand Auto Show on March 24. A report from Chinese automotive news outlet Yiche suggests that the LS6 will be sold under SAIC’s MG brand as the MG IM6, though IM Motors has not confirmed the branding change in its official statements.

IM Motors’ expansion into Thailand follows Xpeng’s recent move to ship 300 right-hand-drive X9 MPVs to the country, as Chinese EV makers intensify their overseas push. “In 2025, IM Motors’ presence in overseas markets will be accelerated to bring more intelligent mobility options to users worldwide,” the company stated on Weibo.
Initially launched in China on October 12, 2023, the LS6 is positioned as a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model Y. It features a length of 4,910 mm, a width of 1,988 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,960 mm.

IM Motors’ current lineup also includes the L6 and L7 sedans, as well as the LS7 SUV. The company has not disclosed further details on its broader international rollout plans.
