One important aspect for EV adoption is the availability of chargers. Today many retail outlets are installing chargers in their stores to meet the needs of consumers who will charge their EVs.
Previously we had reported that Starbucks and Volvo were working together to install chargers into several outlets of the coffee giant from the US.
Most recently, IKEA reached an agreement to bring its Electrify America fast charger to more than 25 stores in the US. With this deal you don’t have to worry about charging the EV when shopping for furniture at IKEA.
The launch will bring more than 200 individual chargers to t more than 25 stores in 18 states. The Electrify America charger offers charging speeds between 150kW and 350kW. In addition to customers, the Electrify America charger will also be used by IKEA’s fleet of electric vehicles.
The first chargers will be available at several IKEA stores in the US towards the end of 2022. The company hopes to complete the project by the end of 2023.
Electrify America aims to have 1,800 fast charging stations (10,000 chargers) across North America by the end of 2025.
