Hyundai Motor Group’s electric air taxi subsidiary Supernal has seen further leadership departures just weeks after pausing work on its vehicle program and parting ways with its chief executive and chief technology officer, TechCrunch reported on Friday.

Supernal confirmed that chief strategy officer Jaeyong Song, chief safety officer Tracy Lamb, and Lina Yang, chief of staff to former CEO Jaiwon Shin, have left the company. Shin, who had led Supernal since its 2021 spin-out from Hyundai’s advanced air mobility (AAM) division, stepped down earlier this month.

“As we transition to new leadership, we have taken the opportunity to strategically review our program’s progress and next steps to ensure alignment with our long-term goals,” Supernal said in a statement to TechCrunch, adding that Hyundai “remains strongly committed to its AAM business.”

Song’s exit is notable given his prior role as vice president of Hyundai’s AAM group, where he spent three years before becoming Supernal’s strategy chief in 2023. He has been employed within the Hyundai-Kia group since 2014. Lamb, a veteran commercial pilot and aerospace safety executive, had joined to oversee safety standards. Neither provided comment on their departures, according to TechCrunch.

Supernal has faced mounting challenges over the past year. The startup closed its Washington, D.C. headquarters in late 2024, conducted its first test flight in March 2025, and soon after laid off dozens of employees. By September, the company paused its vehicle program while initiating an executive shake-up.

The changes come at a pivotal time for the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) industry, where some companies are advancing toward commercial launches with new investment and regulatory support in the U.S., while others have struggled or shuttered operations.
