Hyundai has debuted its new micro SUV, the Hyundai Inster, at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show today, showcasing a compact vehicle designed for navigating narrow and bustling city streets in Europe.

Derived from the South Korea-exclusive Hyundai Casper petrol model, the Hyundai Inster measures 3,825 mm in length, 1,610 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,425 mm. It offers 280 litres of luggage space, expandable to 351 litres by adjusting the rear seats.

The Hyundai Inster lineup features two single-motor variants: Standard Range and Long-Range. The base model boasts a 71.1 kW motor paired with a 42 kWh battery pack, while the top-tier variant upgrades to a 49 kWh battery and an 84.5 kW motor, enhancing performance metrics.

“In the Long-Range variant, acceleration from 0 to 100 kph improves to 10.6 seconds, with a top speed of 150 kph,” Hyundai revealed at the launch. “Both variants include adjustable regenerative braking via steering wheel-mounted pedals.”

Hyundai has equipped the Inster with practical charging capabilities, including an 11 kW onboard charger and compatibility with 120 kW DC chargers, enabling a 10 to 80% State of Charge (SoC) replenishment in approximately 30 minutes.

Externally, the Hyundai Inster sports youthful aesthetics tailored to appeal to younger demographics, featuring LED projector headlamps, pixel-graphic turn signals, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin emphasizes simplicity and functionality, with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and versatile seating arrangements.

Safety features are comprehensive, incorporating Hyundai’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), encompassing technologies such as Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Smart Cruise Control.

“The Hyundai Inster will initially launch in South Korea this summer, followed by a rollout across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific,” Hyundai announced. “Future plans include the introduction of the more rugged Hyundai Inster Cross variant.”
