Hyundai recorded its fifth straight month of record-breaking sales in the U.S. last month, with electrified models, including the upgraded 2025 Ioniq 5, playing a key role in its continued growth. The automaker reported over 62,000 vehicle sales in February, a 3% year-over-year increase, surpassing the industry’s estimated 1% growth.
“This was the best ever February for Hyundai in total sales and the fifth consecutive month of total sales records,” said Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America.

Hyundai’s electrified sales surged 25% compared to February 2024, with the Ioniq 5, Tucson hybrid, and Ioniq 6 setting new February records. Sales of the Ioniq 5, Hyundai’s best-selling electric SUV, rose 22% year-over-year to 2,442 units, bringing total sales of the model in early 2025 to 4,692, up 36% from the prior year.
The refreshed 2025 Ioniq 5 now offers up to 318 miles of range, an enhanced interior, and a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing access to Tesla Superchargers. Additionally, Hyundai noted that drivers now have access to over 36,000 new DC fast chargers nationwide.

Built at Hyundai’s EV Metaplant in Georgia, the 2025 Ioniq 5 will be joined by the company’s first three-row electric SUV, the Ioniq 9, set to launch this spring. “Our strong and diverse lineup will propel us to further gains in market share,” Parker said.
Hyundai expects its U.S.-made EVs, including the Ioniq 5 and upcoming Ioniq 9, to qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit later this year. In the meantime, the automaker is offering the incentive through leasing, with monthly payments starting at $229. Buyers and lessees of the new Ioniq 5 also receive a complimentary ChargePoint Level 2 home charger or a $400 public charging credit.
