Huawei said its updated Aito M7 SUV received more than 100,000 pre-orders within the first hour of sales, underscoring strong demand for new models in China’s crowded electric vehicle market.
The Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) business unit announced the milestone through its mobile app shortly after pre-sales began. The figure places the M7 among the most popular new launches in recent months. Rival Xiaomi reported more than 200,000 firm orders for its YU7 SUV within three minutes of its June 26 debut.
The updated M7 starts at 288,000 yuan ($39,700), about 15% higher than the previous version’s 249,800 yuan. In China, automakers often set pre-sale prices above official launch prices. The new model expands its line-up with both battery electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) versions, alongside five- and six-seat layouts.
The SUV features a longer wheelbase and larger dimensions than its predecessor and is equipped with CATL batteries. The EREV variants carry 37 kWh and 53 kWh packs, offering a combined range of more than 1,600 km when fully fueled and charged, while the BEV model uses a 100 kWh pack for up to 710 km of range.
