Huawei-backed Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) said Monday that the newly launched Maextro S800 flagship sedan has received over 6,500 confirmed orders since its market debut on May 30, positioning the high-end model as a serious contender in China’s premium electric vehicle segment.
The Maextro S800, priced between 708,000 yuan and 1,018,000 yuan ($98,900–$142,200), competes with luxury sedans such as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and BYD’s Yangwang U7. Initial demand has been strong, with Huawei reporting 1,000 orders in the first hour and more than 5,000 by day 19.
Offered in both fully electric (EV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, the S800 is built on the new “Xuanwu” modular architecture and features a body structure with high torsional rigidity and 13 airbags. Its aerodynamic design, measuring 5,480 mm in length with a drag coefficient of 0.206 Cd, incorporates smart power-operated doors using radar and lidar.
Inside, the S800 includes up to three dashboard screens, a starlight panoramic dome, rear-seat recliners, and a 43-speaker audio system with 2,920 W peak output. Huawei says cabin noise is limited to 56.7 dB at 60 km/h on rough roads, thanks to active noise cancellation and layered acoustic insulation.
The EV version rides on an 800V platform with a 97 kWh battery, supporting 5C fast charging and a 702 km CLTC range. The EREV variant offers either a dual- or tri-motor setup and a total range of up to 1,333 km. Acceleration across variants ranges from 0–100 km/h in 4.3 to 4.7 seconds.
