Maextro, the new high-end automotive brand co-developed by Chinese tech giant Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), secured over 2,600 firm orders within 72 hours of launching its first model, the Maextro S800 luxury sedan, Huaweiâs Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) announced on Monday.
The Maextro S800 debuted on the evening of May 30, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants. The model carries a starting price of RMB 708,000 ($98,360), notably lower than earlier estimates of between RMB 1 million and RMB 1.5 million.

Within an hour of the launch event, more than 1,000 firm orders had been placed, Huawei executive director and consumer business chairman Richard Yu said. âAbout 70 percent of the initial buyers chose the high-end version priced over RMB 1 million,â Yu added.
By June 1, HIMA reported the order tally had surpassed 1,600 within the first 24 hours. In Chinaâs automotive market, firm orders typically refer to purchases with non-refundable deposits, although some brands allow short cancellation windows.

Maextro represents the most premium offering under Huaweiâs HIMA umbrella, which also includes the Aito brand with Seres Group, Stelato with BAIC Group, Luxeed with Chery, and Shangjie with SAIC Motor.
HIMA posted record deliveries of 44,454 units in May across its brands. Among them, Aitoâs flagship M9 SUV delivered 15,481 units, bringing its total deliveries to 48,716 units between January and May. Luxeedâs R7 delivered 5,124 units last month, while other models such as the Aito M8, M7, and M5 recorded monthly deliveries of 12,116, 4,139, and 4,889 units, respectively.
