Luxeed, the brand jointly established by Huawei and Chinese automaker Chery, has introduced extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants of its R7 coupe SUV, aiming to broaden its appeal to more consumers. The new models, Pro and Max, were launched on Wednesday with starting prices of RMB 249,800 ($34,230) and RMB 289,800, respectively. Deliveries will commence on January 5.
The Luxeed R7 initially debuted on September 24 with battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants starting at RMB 259,800. As the first coupe SUV developed under Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business, the R7 follows the brand’s S7 sedan, offering advanced mobility solutions.
The EREV versions of the R7 retain the same dimensions as their BEV counterparts, measuring 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The powertrain includes Huawei’s DriveOne motor and Chery’s fifth-generation EREV-specific engine, delivering a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent. “With a 1.5 L engine generating 115 kW and a rear-mounted motor producing 200 kW, the R7 EREV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds,” Luxeed stated.
Equipped with a 37 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, the EREV boasts a CLTC battery range of 251 kilometers and a combined range of 1,570 kilometers on full fuel and charge. The Max version includes a 192-channel LiDAR system, while the Pro version does not. Luxeed is offering limited-time purchase incentives, valued at RMB 31,000 and RMB 42,000 for the Pro and Max versions, respectively, for orders placed before February 5.
In November, Luxeed reported deliveries of 8,983 units for the R7, and the model has amassed over 42,000 confirmed orders since its market debut. “The R7 is a key step in Luxeed’s vision to provide cutting-edge technology and high-performance mobility to our customers,” a company representative remarked.
