Luxeed, the electric vehicle (EV) brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery, has reported significant pre-order interest for its inaugural model, the Luxeed S7. As of today, the Luxeed S7 has amassed over 10,000 pre-orders, according to an announcement made by Luxeed on Weibo.

The Luxeed S7, a mid-to-large size all-electric sedan, was officially introduced at a launch event on November 9, with the official market launch scheduled for November 28. Positioned as the electrified equivalent of BMW, Luxeed’s collaboration with Huawei underscores the tech giant’s foray into the burgeoning EV market.

The Luxeed S7, the first sedan jointly produced by Huawei in partnership with a carmaker, follows Huawei’s previous ventures into SUVs in collaboration with local manufacturers, including Aito’s M-series models. Measuring 4,971 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,474 mm in height, the sedan boasts a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

Offered in four variants – Pro, Max, Max+, and Max RS – the Luxeed S7 is currently available for pre-sale, featuring starting prices of RMB 258,000 ($35,360), RMB 298,000, RMB 328,000, and RMB 358,000, respectively.

Built on Huawei’s “Giant Whale” 800 V high-voltage platform, the Luxeed S7 offers varying ranges across its four versions – 550 km, 705 km, 800 km, and 630 km, respectively. Notably, the model incorporates the industry’s thinnest 800 V high-voltage battery pack, achieving rapid charging capabilities highlighted by Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s smart vehicle solutions business unit, at the launch. Yu emphasized the Luxeed S7’s capability to achieve over 200 km of range in just five minutes of charging and over 400 km in 15 minutes.

Customers displaying early confidence in the Luxeed S7 by pre-ordering before the official November 28 launch will receive benefits worth RMB 40,000.

Huawei’s strides in the automotive sector extend beyond Luxeed, with recent involvement in the launch of Avatr Technology’s first sedan, the Avatr 12, supported by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei. The Avatr 12, unveiled on November 10, garnered over 6,700 firm orders within the first 36 hours post-launch, according to an announcement by Avatr on Weibo. Volume deliveries for the Avatr 12 are expected to commence in December.
