Huawei-backed Aito has launched the Aito M8, an extended-range electric SUV aimed at family buyers, with deliveries scheduled to begin on April 20. The vehicle, introduced under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), is priced from RMB 359,800 ($49,250) and is available in six variants.
All versions of the Aito M8 are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) and are offered in Max, Max+, and Ultra trims, each available in five- and six-seat layouts. The new model undercuts its pre-sale starting price announced in March by RMB 8,200. The six-seat Ultra variant is the highest-priced model, starting at RMB 449,800.

The Aito M8 measures 5,190 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,795 mm in height, with a 3,105 mm wheelbase. It is powered by a dual-motor setup, with the front motor generating 165 kW and the rear motor producing 227 kW. The range extender is a 1.5-liter engine delivering 118 kW, allowing for a top speed of 200 km/h. Battery options include 36 kWh and 52 kWh packs, supporting electric-only ranges of 161 km to 240 km, depending on the variant. The vehicle’s total range can reach up to 1,526 kilometers when fully fueled and charged.
The model features Huawei’s advanced driver assistance system, which incorporates a 192-channel roof-mounted LiDAR, a solid-state LiDAR unit, and three 4D millimeter-wave radars. HIMA reported the Aito M8 received over 20,000 orders within the first hour of its launch event.

Aito, launched in late 2021 as a joint venture between Huawei and Seres Group, continues to expand its lineup of premium new energy vehicles. The M8 joins other models such as the Aito M5, M7, and M9 in the company’s portfolio, competing with offerings from rivals such as Li Auto’s Li L8 EREV.
