Honda and its luxury brand Acura are set to gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network in the spring of 2025, the company announced on Monday. This development comes even as the brands are not yet listed on Tesla’s official “coming soon” page, which has seen recent updates to include other automakers.
The announcement was made in a press release related to the upcoming launch of the Acura RSX EV. Honda stated that both Honda and Acura electric vehicle (EV) owners would be able to use the Tesla Supercharger network, with adaptors expected to be available for customers in the spring.
However, details on whether these adaptors will be provided for free or sold separately, as well as the manufacturer behind the adaptors, have not been disclosed.
Honda’s current battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the United States, the Honda Prologue, was developed in collaboration with General Motors. Despite limited details, the company confirmed that further specifics regarding the availability and costs of the adaptors would be shared closer to the launch.
The move follows similar announcements from other brands, such as Ford and Hyundai, which have offered free adaptors to customers, while others, like Mercedes, have charged for them. Most adaptors typically cost around $200.
This transition to broader access to Tesla’s Supercharger network has been part of a broader rollout plan expected to occur through 2025, although progress has been slower than anticipated, likely due to organizational shifts at Tesla.
