Great Wall Motor (GWM) is making significant strides in growing its ORA brand footprint in the United Kingdom, with the recent opening of eight new test drive centers across the country and the introduction of an enhanced variant of the Funky Cat model.
Scheduled to hit the local market on October 12, the Ora Funky Cat First Edition+ is poised to offer UK customers an enticing blend of performance and features at a starting price of £33,795 ($40,777). Notably, this variant distinguishes itself with a larger 63 kWh battery, a step up from the standard Funky Cat’s 48 kWh battery. This battery upgrade substantially extends the vehicle’s range, from 193 miles (310 km) to an impressive 260 miles (418 km) on the WLTP test cycle.
Beyond the enhanced powertrain, the Funky Cat First Edition+ is equipped with an array of creature comforts, including heated, cooled, and massage front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic parking assistance. Shoppers will also have the option to select from two popular color configurations at no extra cost: Aroura Green with a Moonlight White or Starry Black roof, or Mars Red with a Starry Black roof.
Safety features are a prominent highlight of the Funky Cat First Edition+, with front collision warning and auto emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear cross-traffic alert, smart cruise control, lane change assist, and blind spot detection all included as standard. However, it’s worth noting that only a limited quantity of 50 units will be available in the UK.
In tandem with the introduction of this exciting new variant, GWM has opened a network of eight test drive centers across the UK. These centers serve as hubs for test drives, sales inquiries, and service support for current and prospective ORA owners. Each location boasts the presence of an EV expert who can address customer questions and concerns. Following a test drive, customers have the convenience of placing an order and scheduling delivery, a process typically completed within one to two weeks. With these latest additions, ORA now boasts an impressive network of 26 customer service points throughout the UK.
