Volkswagen showcased the updated MEB models at this year’s IAA Mobility event in Munich, introducing essential changes. The rear axle of the drives from the Pro version onwards now features the APP550 electric drive, previously introduced in the ID.7. With 210 kW and 550 Nm, this new drive system surpasses its predecessor (150 kW and 310 Nm) in both power and efficiency. The improvements extend to the all-wheel-drive vehicles, benefiting from the enhanced rear motor. Additionally, advancements in battery management contribute to increased charging performance, coupled with the ability to precondition the battery. Other notable changes include a retuned chassis, minor updates in the cockpit, and the integration of the 4.0 software.
Volkswagen’s move to enhance its ID.4 and ID.5 models underscores the ongoing commitment to innovation and performance within its electric vehicle lineup. With these updates, the German automaker aims to offer customers an elevated driving experience while meeting the growing demand for electric mobility solutions.
